Becoming a Jew is a journey engaging both the deep emotions of the heart and the analytic mind. The journey embraces study and experiencing the essence of Jewish culture and tradition.
The process of conversion that the Reform Movement in Israel offers includes participating in a course of study and in the active life of a liberal community, culminating in each convert’s personal choice of how to express his Judaism within his or her own life style.
The study includes an introduction to the wealth of the Jewish annual calendar, to all major life cycle events, to the treasure of Jewish books and writings, the Jewish law and its many varied expressions.
The conversion course is recognized by the Ministry of Interior for purposes of being recognized as Jewish according to Israeli civil law.
It is open to anyone who is an Israeli citizen or a permanent resident.
The fee charged enables both the convert and a partner to join the course.
